About Me

My name is Tia, I live in Seattle and these are the sketches and musings of my paint brushes. My middle name is "Yesima, it means "daughter of right hand strength", I do try to live up to it.

I finally got some painting done the other day! The sun is out in Seattle and I finally had the energy to bust something out. I've been sewing for Burning man costumes and it's taken up all my painting time. Cheers to sunshine!

I gathered all my recent paintings this morning to do a "head" count of them and it seems I have been doing quite a bit of painting since I moved into my little studio. I have been focusing mostly on mini paintings, I do really have any space in here for large work anyway.

I started and finished this one yesterday.

Meet me Halfway
8" x 10" Acrylic on canvas

Don't Talk to...

Jump at the Demon
4"x4" on canvas

This month I continued onward with my little red riding hood theme, gathering a collection of her for my canvas comic.

I did quite a few miniatures this month as well (one 1 1/2" x 3" and several 4" x 4" pieces)which I felt helped me focus my hand. Also helped with apartment clutter...I live in a studio...I get too many big canvas, I will have no space! Staying tiny for now, plus they are super cute.

Also this month I sewed a riding hood and dressed the part for halloween...no pictures survived...it was such a good party and I was too scantly clad ^.~* The riding hood is magic but gets you into trouble.

I have been working this past month on paintings based on the tale of Lil' Red Riding Hood. I am working toward creating a full collection, a graphic novel on canvas. I've been trying different themed paintings for it. Sometimes the wolf will be her ally and others an enemy.

Trekking up the hill to buy some Grimm fairy tales for inspiration :)

I will have a bunch of new paintings up for Vermillion's Artache Market, a mini collection if you will. It will be every first Sunday from 2-7, this month 18 different artists will gather together to put on a show. Very excited!
